Must see TV
`
I fully agree (the earth is not flat!). quoting: Imaginary cosmopolitism is a problem. We are talking about global challenges, real problems require global conversations. We tend not to see the wider picture and live in our filter bubble (now there is challenge)! We need xenophiles, need to create serendipity and celebrate bridge figures.
Lessons about opennes and the ecology of balanced creativity. Check his 2007 contrib, in case you ever missed that.
Great video (again), but where is the path to action?
I really, really like this video (and mashup). I must have missed it because of my work on my thesis. Telling stories about the world around us. Check-out fluttr, mapping social media.
Gary, or hyper-Gary, in case you are low on energy for a minute. Celebrated Wine TV (in Jarvis’ book?), “please stop doing stuff you hate”. I agree, but must assume it is not a viable option for everyone (Gary did have a nice place to start his adventure…, see the comments on youtube)
how to become succesfull? seven years and 500 interviews later: the eight secrets of succes: passion, work, foucs, persist, ideas, good, push and serve. That’s all! (1/4/10)
same here. might use this in a future presentation. is there still a place to hide? fun part: I saw this during a presentation from … Google itself.
not really ‘must see’, but I am using this page as a place holder. Might use this video for a future presenation. It does make you THINK! (march 6th 2010)
18 feb 2010: Can there be more compassion on a stage? Feel the power of this woman. Truly an astonishing story. Now this is an idea worth spreading! These are the notes I took, please take your own! (note: I guess I have a stong(er) right hemisphere)
There was a lot of meaning to my life. I essentially became an infant in a woman’s body.
I have brought for you a real human brain. A parallel and a serial processor.
Our brain halfs have very different personalities. I am an energy being.
Connected as one human family. Brainchatter. Pick up the bananas in the morning.
“I am”.
My consciousness had shifted away. I could hear the dialogue inside of my body.
I was captivated by the energy around me. Lala land is beautiful, I felt euphoria.
How many brain scientist have the opportunity to study the brain from the inside out?.
I was no longer the choreographer of my life. I just wanted to escape.
I am still alive and I have found nirvana. They could purposely choose to step to the right of their left hemisphere
Who are we? We have the power to choose how we want to be in the world
These are the we inside of me.
6 feb 2010 – Achieving Your Childhood Dreams
Sit back and watch this whole video. After two years it is still thought provoking. A presentation about childhood dreams, enabling the dreams of others, lessons learned, but not really. It is about how to lead your life. If you lead your life the right way, the karma will take care of itself. What are your childhood dreams?
30 jan 2010 – An ‘oldy’ again, but I had some ‘about your education’ conversations recently.I believe in Robinson’s premise, have shared it with my family and friends. “Everybody has an interest in education.”. Just used that in a new column as wel…Some quotes from the video:
Variety and range of creativity. Education goes deep with people.
A future we can’t grasp. No one has an idea what the world looks like in five years time.
We should treat creativity with the same status as literacy.
“Frank sent this” ; kids will take a chance, they are not afraid of being wrong.
If you are not prepared to be wrong, you will never come up with something original.
Education what it’s for? From an alien’s point of view: Purpose must be to create university professors, they’re just another form of life. They live in their heads and look upon their body as a way of transport their head. A way to get to meetings.
Suddenly degrees aren’t worth anything. Process of academic inflation.
Intelligence is diverse, interactive, distinct.
Why do we position the arts in this way in our education system?
If a man speaks in the forest, and no woman hears him. Is he still wrong?
Our only hope for the future is the adopt a new concept for human ecology.
Our education system had mined our mind.
We might not see our future, our children will. Our job is to make something of it!
23 jan 2010 – just a silent reminder. encourage creativity for our children.
16 jan 2010 - Wiring a web for global good
I remember watching this presentation for the first time. Gordon Brown does not seem to me as a colourfull character and I was very surprised about his message, which comes across as very genuine. A few wordings:
Unlock invisible ties of sympathy. We do feel the pain of others, however distantly. We do believe in something bigger then ourselves. A moral sense, we have a duty to act. We now have the capacity to meet people we will never meet. The start of a global society. Campaigns run by people to change the world. Power of our moral sense combined with the power of modern communications and to mobilize internationally, first opportunity to fundamentally change the world! The greater challenge of fighting poverty and climate change. We are the first generation to be able to do this. Most challenges are global in their nature, climate change, human rights. We cannot solve these projects unless we work together. Build a truly global society.
I liked the end of his presentation as well: let’s march! Which steps do you take?
9 jan 2010 – Today I decided to archive publicly (and hence share) the videos I appreciate on the net. First is Steve Jobs (2005, still current), telling three stories:
1. Connecting the dots (believe that they connect somewhere in the future)
2. love and loss (don’t loose faith; you gotta find what you love).
3. Death. Avoid the trap thinking you have something to loose.
Don’t be trapped by dogma. Have the courage to follow your heart and intuition.
Everything else is secondary. Ends with with : stay hungry, stay foolish.
What can I add? I good story, I concur with its content!
